Dragons beat the luckless Shamrocks

It was all Long Flat’s way in the first half at Long Flat on Saturday when Beechwood took to the field in opposition in the Hastings League rugby league competition.

Josh Henry opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a try, which Corey Milgate converted, as he did the Keith Hollis try seven minutes later.

Beechwood held on until five minutes before half time, when Tom Willemsen crossed, giving the Dragons their 16 half-time points.

Long Flat Dragons improve their standing in the Hastings League Comp

The Long Flat Dragons made short work of the Port Macquarie Settlers in Sharks on the weekend winning 30-16.

The win saw the Dragons improve their standing in the Hastings League competition but they face bitter rivals the Comboyne Tigers this weekend.

The rivalry is one of the longest running in the competition with the Tigers gaining the upper hand most recently.

But the Dragons will be full of confidence following their recent victory.

At the half-time break though the game was still in the balance with Dragons taking a slender 12-10 lead.

Coffs Coast Rally lead by Wauchope duo

Rally CarWauchope’s brother and sister team of Michael Boaden and Helen Cheers, lead the 4WD event of the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally after Saturday morning’s stages.

Wauchope’s Michael Boaden is in front in the Bosch 4WD ARC by a margin of 41 seconds; followed in second by Wyong’s Jon Mitchell in his Lancer Evo 9.

Action-packed opening has seen several top competitors forced out of the race by mechanical issues and errors on the track.  Simon Evans went out with exhaust problems but is able to return to race later today.

A Nissan Silvia driven by Jack Monkhouse rolled his vehicle after running out of run in spectacular incident.  “Pushing on with totally shagged rear tyres and ran out of road downhill.  End over end for 40 metres. Thank god for nothing but the best in Roll Cage, Seats, Harnesses and helmet,” Monkhouse posted on Facebook.

Nic Box from WA rolled his Lancer Evo 9  on Special Stage two.

Eli Evans holds the lead in the 2WD category by 1min 23 seconds ahead of privateer Adam Casmiri in his Honda Civic.

Team have four stages to complete this afternoon with six stages scheduled for tomorrow.

*EDIT 15 Oct 2012.  Wauchope’s brother and sister team of Michael Boaden and Helen Cheers have won the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally – 4WD ARC.

Winner stripped of Wauchope Cup Victory

Horse Racing starting gatesKinetics (6year old chestnut gelding) trained by Graham Payne has been stripped of it Wauchope Cup victory.  Official stewards found excessive concentrations of testosterone in a post-race urine sample.

Mr. Payne has pleaded not guilty to a charge under AR178 in the Australian Racing Board’s Rules of Racing.  Mr Payne has requested that the hearing of the charge be adjourned so that he may take legal advice, which was granted.  The inquiry was adjourned to 1pm on Tuesday, 23rd October 2012.

Acting under the powers of AR 177 Kinetics was disqualified from its first placing in the Australian Wauchope Cup on the 17th June 2012 and the placings were amended:-

1. Never Doubt Me
2. Nevzlin
3. Aristocratico
4. Universal Belief

Long Flat tennis club is seeking players for the Tuesday and Thursday night competitions.

This competition begins on 9th October, 2012. Games start at 7.00p.m.

We’re hosting a NURSERY RUN again as a fundraiser for the Tennis Club and a general great day out.

Leaving from the School at 7am on Sunday October 21st, the cost is $.

Please confirm your seat with Nancy Lindsay as bus seats are limited.

KIDS TENNIS starts Friday 12th October from 6pm.  Membership is $20 and a BBQ is on offer each week.
