Coffs Coast Rally lead by Wauchope duo

13 October, 2012 by Long Flat Admin

Rally CarWauchope’s brother and sister team of Michael Boaden and Helen Cheers, lead the 4WD event of the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally after Saturday morning’s stages.

Wauchope’s Michael Boaden is in front in the Bosch 4WD ARC by a margin of 41 seconds; followed in second by Wyong’s Jon Mitchell in his Lancer Evo 9.

Action-packed opening has seen several top competitors forced out of the race by mechanical issues and errors on the track.  Simon Evans went out with exhaust problems but is able to return to race later today.

A Nissan Silvia driven by Jack Monkhouse rolled his vehicle after running out of run in spectacular incident.  “Pushing on with totally shagged rear tyres and ran out of road downhill.  End over end for 40 metres. Thank god for nothing but the best in Roll Cage, Seats, Harnesses and helmet,” Monkhouse posted on Facebook.

Nic Box from WA rolled his Lancer Evo 9  on Special Stage two.

Eli Evans holds the lead in the 2WD category by 1min 23 seconds ahead of privateer Adam Casmiri in his Honda Civic.

Team have four stages to complete this afternoon with six stages scheduled for tomorrow.
