Ellenborough Spring Ball 2014

23 October, 2014 by Long Flat Admin

Ellenborough Spring Ball

The second annual black tie Ellenborough Spring Ball was held on Saturday, October 18 at the Ellenborough hall.

The idea for the ball was conceived by Long Flat P&C members Leanne Coombes and Vanessa Crowley with the view to hosting an old-time event ‘like we had back in the day’, complete with dances such as Pride of Erin, Gypsy Tap and barn dances as well as some modern music to accommodate all ages.

The event has proved to be very popular with all funds raised from ticket sales going back to the Long Flat Public School P&C.

The crowd was entertained this year by local band “Gotcha Covered”.

The event drew a crowd of locals as well as visitors from Wauchope, Wingham, Comboyne, Byabarra and Beechwood who came to dance the night away.

The best dressed male was awarded to Dean Broderick with the best dressed female award going to Larissa Hardcastle.

Oxley H’way still impassable between Long Flat & Walcha

28 February, 2013 by Long Flat Admin

By Catherine Clifford  Posted Thu Feb 28, 2013 6:46am AEDT

The Transport Management Centre says the Oxley Highway between Walcha and Long Flat could be closed until late Thursday or Friday.

The closure was implemented last weekend due to flooding.

Spokeswoman, Nicquie Sinclair, says the Centre is continuing to liaise with the local council.

She says as soon as the road is passable an announcement will be made.

“The Oxley Highway is still closed between Long Flat and Walcha and that’s due to flooding and it is expected to remain this way until at least tomorrow afternoon,” she said.

“So, we are advising motorists they can use the New England Highway or Grafton Road and Waterfall Way instead, but if you do need to travel these alternative routes they will add considerable time to journeys.”

The Transport Management Centre re-iterates its warning to all motorists that it is not safe to attempt to drive through a flood-affected road when closure signs are in place.
