Final week of the Wauchope Youth Program

20 September, 2012 by Long Flat Admin

It’s your last chance to participate in Wauchope’s inaugural Friday Night Youth Program.  The past seven weeks have been jam-packed with activities held at Rotary Park each Friday night in a safe environment.  A variety of activities such as African Drumming, circus skills, martial arts, self development and much more were positively received by the young attendees.

Council Mayor, Peter Besseling said the realisation of a social activity program for the youth in the area has been a long term plan achieved.Multi Colored Juggling Balls

“Over the past seven weeks Council has rolled out a packed program of activities at Rotary Park each Friday night for youth aged between 12-17 years which has been very positively received and embraced by young people in the Wauchope area,” Mr Besseling said.

“Throughout the course of the program 34 young people on average attended each Friday night, with people coming from as far away as Comboyne and Papinbarra which is a fantastic outcome.”

“Council is delighted to confirm that the Wauchope Friday Night Youth program will be offered again early next year.  The weekly schedule of activities provides increased social activities for our youth in a friendly, safe and fun environment.”

Contributions have come from many community groups, businesses, and volunteers who offered their support for the program.  Wauchope Community Meals program provided the sustenance, while the volunteers facilitated the weekly programs; making the program a success huge success.
