Collect your free guide to ‘Foodies month’ – out now!
There is just two weeks until events for the 2012 Holiday Coast Tastings on Hastings begin.
A free Festival Guide released this week, will provide a fantastic outline to the month long event that celebrates local food and wine producers.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council Mayor Peter Besseling encouraged residents to pick-up a copy of the guide and learn more about the upcoming events and workshops that will be on offer right throughout the region.
“The Tastings on Hastings festival in October remains a premier event that showcases the quality and depth of the region’s food and wine to the mid-north coast and beyond,” Mr Besseling said.
“The month long program of events also presents an opportunity for us as locals to explore and familiarise ourselves with the many local producers we are lucky enough to have as neighbours.”
A highlight of the program is the Breakfast in the Beds morning on Saturday and Sunday, 6 & 7 October, where guests will spend a morning in the Hastings Valley hinterland roaming the Near River market farm for fresh organic produce. Guest chef Todd Richardson will then cook up a storm and prepare breakfast making for a truly authentic paddock to plate experience.
“This is a wonderful event for families and children where you can discover more about farming and local produce in a fun and educative environment,” Mr Besseling said.
Other events include the tasty cheese making workshops at the Amber Healing Farm in North Haven where cheese enthusiasts will learn how to make camembert, fetta, quart, ricotta, mascarpone and greek style yoghurt.
