Picnics in the Park
Melbourne is renowned for the parks and gardens that surround the city. So a walk in the park is always on the list of things to do, visit the Botanical Gardens, the Carlton Gardens, the Fitzroy and Treasury Gardens all within a stone’s throw of the city. For a completely different experience follow the river from Federation Square and you will come to Birrarung Marr. Created along the river bank it will provide many hours of entertainment for children in particular at Art Play, a creative facility and a modern outdoor play area that aims to stimulate children’s creativity.
Walk, Jog, Ride
Wherever you are in Melbourne the network of bike paths ensures that it is easy to explore Melbourne. Walk, jog or ride, the choice is yours. If nature is your passion then the Main Yarra Bike Trail which starts at Westerfold Park has been described as “meditative”. If the beach is your thing, then the Bay Trail which hugs and beach and includes a trip on a punt across the Yarra River, is ideal. Of course, if you get a little warm, you can always stop along the way and take a quick dip at one of the seaside beaches.
Cultural Attractions
If cultural attractions are more your style, then Melbourne offers them in abundance. The majestic State Library is an example of magnificent architecture, combine that with the magnificent library and the regular exhibitions and it is always worth a visit. Not far away, but a world away, in terms of experience is the RMIT Gallery. A public art and design gallery it features exhibitions across a number of disciplines including fashion, architecture, fine art and new media.

Melbourne’s CBD offers a treasure trove of discoveries. You will find magnificent architecture in the Block Arcade; more baristas than there are in Italy, each one plying his trade with passion, guaranteeing you a great coffee. If you like to shop, but are not sure whether you can resist temptation, an evening stroll will allow you to discover an eclectic range of fashion and accessories.
