Perth

Perth’s climate makes it perfect for outdoor activities, combined with it’s proximity to beaches and rivers and you have the perfect location for a range of outdoor simple pleasures.

Picnics in the park

Load up a picnic basket with your favourite foods, chill down your favourite drinks and pick a location. If you have any room left, a cricket bat and ball, footy or Frisbee are a great way to spend a couple of hours. Depending on where you plan to picnic, a couple of bikes are a great way to explore the surrounds.

Our favourite in Perth is Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens. Over 400 hectares of parkland that is extraordinarily diverse.  The views from the numerous look out points offer a magnificent vista of Perth and the Swan River, and are a perfect location to photograph the city. The many acres of native bush land also make this a convenient location to explore the diversity of  Australian flora and fauna.

If you are interested in history, Kings Park is also home to the State War Memorial.

A day at the beach

A day at the beach is a great Australian pastime. The Sunset Coast just north of Perth offers all the best things about Australia’s beaches; swimming, surfing, walking paths, cycling paths and of course a variety of beachside cafes and restaurants for a little refreshment.

Being on the west coast of Australia, means that they have the added advantage of spectacular sunsets.

Walk, jog, ride

Whichever one you prefer Burswood Park has something especially for you. If you prefer a little education with your exercise then the heritage trail might be just the thing for you.  The trail features bronze statues of historic figures and convenient rest areas to allow you to contemplate the achievements of these influential pioneers.

If you prefer something a little more energetic, then grab your bike and ride the 3.4 km bike trail. Fast or slow, the scenery makes it an exhilarating ride.
